E-meet a Biomedical Scientist 2022
From the lab to the classroom. In celebration of National Science Week - 13 August to 21 August 2022 - high school students will have the opportunity to meet our experts and learn about all things biomedical sciences.
What better way to celebrate National Science Week than by connecting budding high school students with University of Melbourne Biomedical Scientists, who work at the centre of the Southern Hemisphere's largest biomedical precinct!
During 20- to 30-minute video calls, our experts – many of whom are global leaders in their research field – will inspire the next generation of Biomedical Scientists.
Students in Years 9–12 from across metropolitan, regional and rural schools are invited to ask questions about:
- What it's like to make a major scientific discovery?
- How it feels to change the course of a person’s health – and life?
- Which career pathways are best for young Biomedical Scientists?
- What are the latest technologies available in modern-day, cutting-edge science laboratories?
- And much more.
The School of Biomedical Sciences will "match-make" our experts with participating schools prior to National Science Week so that meetings can take place between Monday 15 – Friday 19 August.

As the largest School of Biomedical Sciences in Australia, we are at the forefront of teaching and research excellence, with the ultimate aim of advancing human health.
In recent years, particularly with the COVID-19 global pandemic, the field of Biomedical Sciences has been thrust into the spotlight. There has been an unprecedented expansion of knowledge, technology and, importantly, collaboration.
Biomedical Scientists are at the heart of multi-disciplinary healthcare teams and their research drives the discovery of new medications vaccines, treatments and cures for life threatening diseases.
After successful e-Meet a Biomedical Scientist events in 2018, 2019 and 2020, we are excited to be bringing this initiative back for its fourth edition. This is an incredible opportunity for our experts to share their knowledge, and for schools to inspire and engage their students in a new way. We look forward to your participation!
