We’re fascinated in skeletal muscle. Muscle in its peak form is amazing, but when things go wrong it’s devastating. One of the most surprising things about our research is that we are still scratching the surface. We just don’t have the therapeutics that we need to combat loss of muscle mass and strength at the moment – and that staggers me.

We’re really at an exciting time in terms of developing new therapeutics. With things like gene delivery tools, we now have an ability to go in and manipulate aspects of how that muscle behaves. I think this could actually unlock new approaches and strategies for dealing with this unmet need that we haven’t been able to fix with other methods.
