Optimism, community and connectedness
Students get creative in this year's seasons greetings card competition.
The theme for the design competition this year was optimism. And students were asked to visualize what makes them feel optimistic about the future, what's special about studying at Melbourne and how we can all help make the world a better place.
First year Marketing student Yu Li (Christy), took the winners prize for her card design - More connected than ever. You can view it here.
Christy says, “Though we’re separated physically, we bonded tighter as a virtual community. The University of Melbourne students and staff co-operate and trust each other, and this is the source of our optimism and bravery.”
There were two entries from our own Bachelor of Biomedicine students in the School of Biomedical Sciences:
| Rainbow shining over Melbourne University | “This work depicts a rainbow lorikeet in front of the iconic Melbourne University clock tower. I was inspired by the classic rainbow as a symbol of optimism, but made it more Australian for when people from all around the world return to Melbourne as we recover from the pandemic.” Anjali Barnes Bachelor of Biomedicine |

The winning entry will be available in digital design for University staff to send to their stakeholders - and when campus reopens next year, it will be available for University staff, students and visitors at the Pop Up Shop, Gate 10.
