Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Anatomy & Physiology

Dr Victoria Garside is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Smith Laboratory, Department of Anatomy & Physiology at the University of Melbourne. The Smith Lab focusses on finding factors that control the formation of the heart. Vcitoria pecifically looks at how the heart valves are made and investigating the how the matrix (the molecules outside the cells - that create their environment) influences what the cells become (fate) and vice versa. Understanding this relationship between matrix and fate can be applied to many different systems including birth defects, disease and cancer.
