Dr Maciej Daniszewski

Research Fellow in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology

Dr Maciej Daniszewski obtained a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from University of Warsaw. He subsequently joined Professor Alice Pébay at the University of Melbourne and completed his PhD in stem cell biology/ ophthalmology in 2019. Maciej’s PhD utilised automation for large-scale generation and maintenance of human iPSC-derived cells from hundreds of patients (305) to examine transcriptional changes in induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived retinal ganglion cells from patients with glaucoma and healthy controls. He has generated over 615 iPSC lines for use in disease modelling projects, including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), motor neurone disease (MND) and schizophrenia. He currently manages Phenomics Australia Stem Cell Disease Modelling Node and continues generating more iPSC lines for disease modelling and drug screening purposes.
