Dr Juliet Taylor

Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry & Pharmacology

Dr Taylor is a Senior Research Fellow in the Neuropharmacology Lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology. She completed her PhD in neuroscience on oxidative stress and stroke before taking on a postdoctoral position at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute researching the genetics of Parkinson’s disease.

Dr Taylor’s current research interests are focused on the neuroinflammatory response and how it contributes to long-term changes in brain health. Her studies aim to identify therapeutic targets to limit neuroinflammation and slow the progression of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. A recent focus has centred on the contribution of the peripheral immune response, specifically the gut, to the brain pathology in Parkinson’s disease. Dr Taylor also has an interest in the role that neuroinflammation plays in the long-term changes in the brain following traumatic brain injury.
