Dr Ayenachew Bezawork-Geleta

Postdoctoral Research in the Department of Anatomy & Physiology

Dr. Ayenachew Bezawork-Geleta grew up in Ethiopia and received his MSc in molecular biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel). He did his PhD at La Trobe University and his early postdoctoral research at Griffith University. In 2018 he joined University of Melbourne and is currently working on new regulators of lipid droplet metabolism in health and disease.

In recognition of his work, Dr Ayenachew has received competitive awards from International and Australian scientific bodies (e.g. International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a fellowship from Pears Foundation of UK). He is highly committed to accelerating access to health through discovery biology while also growing curiosity in the next generation of scientists.
