Science meets Art through Maree Clark and Melbourne Histology Platform’s collaboration

Maree Clark and the Melbourne Histology Platform join to produce an exhibition of artworks that bring the Science and Art world together.

Multidisciplinary visual artist Maree Clark collaborated with the Melbourne Histology Platform, based here in the School of Biomedical Sciences, to create artworks that reach far beyond scientific discovery. Her works using the microscopic river reed are viewed through the microscope lens. The exhibition demonstrates two worlds colliding; the science and art world. Whilst a biologist would see vascular bundles or an area of parenchyma tissue, artists such as Maree would perceive “unseen worlds” that look like eyes, seascapes, and more.

Her exhibition now you see me: seeing the invisible #2 is displayed on the screens at Melbourne’s Federation Square from the 21st August – 3rd September, and her current exhibition ‘Between Waves’ is being shown at ACCA until 3rd September.
