The course offers undergraduate students the opportunity to:

Open to undergraduate students with an interest in biochemistry and molecular biology.
Registration is $15. Includes food & drinks. Places are limited.

Program

DAY 1

9:00 - 12:30 pm Hear Research Talks.
Hear talks from Biochemistry researchers. Speakers will be heads of labs, PhD students and
postdoctoral fellows. Talks will highlight new advances and technologies in biochemical research and discuss how biochemistry advances our understanding of health and disease.
This session will include a break for morning tea.

12:30 - 1:30 pm Lunch

1:30 - 2:30 pm Find out about employment opportunities in Biochemistry.
In this session we will hear from speakers about their journeys in biochemistry research.
Speakers will come from both academia and industry (CSL Ltd).

2:30 - 3:00 pm Afternoon Tea

3:00 - 5:00 pm Tour Bio21 and Biochemistry laboratories.
Tour Bio21 and see hands on demonstrations of platform technologies including NMR, Nanopore
sequencing, cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and microscopy, and mass spectrometry and proteomics.
Tours will be conducted by PhD students in Biochemistry.

5:00 - 6:00 pm Social event hosted by Biochemistry PhD and Honours students.

DAY 2

9:00 - 10:30 am Hear Research Talks.

Hear about how to extend your studies in Biochemistry to include a year of research in one of our labs.
Find out what Honours and Masters are and how to apply.

2:30 pm- 3:00 pm Afternoon tea

3:00 - 3.15 pm Prizes and workshop conclusion.
Prizes will be awarded for participation.
