Meet Our Talent
Meet Jesse
Now with his sights set on Medicine, Jesse says it was his father – who is a psychologist – that inspired him to help people.
I wanted to do psychology/psychiatry for a long time and this pushed me towards biomedicine.
Currently in the third year of his Bachelor of Biomedicine, Jesse is majoring in pharmacology – and it’s a subject he’s always been interested in.
“Understanding the details of how therapeutic and recreational drugs work and why they have such impacts on our world is fascinating” he says.
Having a long commute to campus means enjoying the social side of university life can be difficult for Jesse. But it’s been the Biomedicine Students’ Society (BSS) that has bridged this gap and he met a lot of his uni friends at the annual BSS orientation camp. The BSS, run for Biomedicine Students by Biomedicine Students, has a calendar of social and academic events aimed to help students form life-long friendships and make the transition to uni easier.
Participate in more things and say yes to more opportunities. It's hard living so far from uni but it's worth going to campus and socialising - if you're open to new experiences there are always many to be had.
