Meet Inas

Majoring in public health and epidemiology has given Inas a holistic view of the issues faced in healthcare and the importance of implementing preventative measures to reduce the incidence of a disease.

After COVID-19 I saw how important public health and epidemiology were: to be able to communicate with people from different background and education levels and relay information from researchers and doctors to the general public in an understandable way - in order to keep the whole population safe and healthy.

Inas came to Australia as a child and says this greatly impacted her.

“At first it was hard to integrate into Australian culture, though as time went on, I was able to find similarities that I could relate to that made Australia feel like home - and I was able to grow emotionally as a result,” she reflects.

It was also an experience that made her more aware of different people, their lives and the importance of good health.

During her Bachelor of Biomedicine, Inas studied a fine arts breadth subject to try something she had never done before.

“I developed a new skill and now I draw botanical art – leaves, flowers, trees – it’s a new hobby for me and I love it.”

Currently in her third year of Biomedicine, Inas is thinking about the future - she would like to study medicine with a focus on public health and epidemiology.
