Meet Our Talent

Meet Aaron

As a Bachelor of Biomedicine student and Narrm Scholar, now in his second year, Aaron has made the UniMelb Parkville campus his second home.

Hailing from regional Victoria, his motivation for pursing biomedicine has always been to help others and is particularly interested in working with those in rural areas who don't have the same access to healthcare.

One of the things he values most about Biomedicine is its smaller cohort size, which helps create a close knit and supportive learning environment.

“Because the degree is so focused on medical sciences, it naturally attracts students who are really passionate about the field,” he explains. “That makes a huge difference to how you learn alongside each other.”

Aaron wants to make the most of university life and he strongly believes involvement outside of study is just as valuable as academic learning.

Take advantage of the opportunities around you...Internships, volunteering, research programs, and student initiatives are all incredible ways to gain experience and meet people with similar interests.

The Alan Gilbert Building, its cafe and and dedicated MDHS study spaces, the Giblin Eunson Library, the Narrm Scholars common room and iconic WEBs are some of Aaron’s favourite places on campus where he can balance study, productivity and connection with friends and peers.

Beyond coursework, Aaron highlights the unique opportunities the Biomedicine degree offers. A standout experience for him has been the Teddy Bear Hospital, where students work with children to make healthcare feel less daunting.

Helping kids feel more comfortable around healthcare in such a fun and meaningful way is something I’ll always remember.

Aaron has also been involved in Biomedicine Students Society events, Professor in the Park, and worked at the Narrm Scholars Pre-Orientation Camp, a medical practice and the Australian Open.

His breadth subjects have touched on his love of theatre with the 'Inside Look at MTC' providing an inside look at the art, craft and business of Melbourne Theatre Company.

It’s the camaraderie, the clubs, the events, and the support network that make campus life at UniMelb unique. You’re surrounded by like-minded people navigating the same transition into adulthood. In every lecture, club, or event, there’s an opportunity to connect.

Studying in the heart of Melbourne adds to the experience with ease of transport, cafés and the city’s energy that all help make campus life even richer.

“After a long day of classes, sometimes the perfect reset is grabbing food with friends or wandering through the shops, pretending upcoming assessments don’t exist...at least for a little while.”
