MHP featured in research infrastructure careers article in Science Victoria magazine

We're pleased to share that the Melbourne Histology Platform has been mentioned in the July issue of Science Victoria magazine's coverage of careers in STEMM.

The regular magazine of the Royal Society of Victoria, Science Victoria, aims to keep Victoria’s science community updated with activities, opportunities, issues and new developments in science.

The theme of the July 2023 issue is Careers in STEMM, and includes a feature article - Research infrastructure: making discoveries possible - led by MHP's Platform Manager (and member of the Royal Society of Victoria) Dr Chris Freelance. In addition to raising awareness about the often-overlooked arena of research infrastructure, the article presents a snapshot into different RI roles and career pathways. Staff across five different research infrastructure functions across the University provided profiles about what their role entails and how they found their way into it.

"Research infrastructure is often overlooked, which is a shame as it's a great career option for people who don't want to be traditional T&R academics or to go into an industry role, or who are passionate about processes or equipment over a particular research interest. Seeing input from people with roles from a technical function right through to institution-wide strategy, and spanning biomedicine to engineering to mathematics, helps to construct clearer links between fields that often seem disparate and, hopefully, provides some insight into the teams behind the infrastructure that helps make discoveries possible."
