Welcoming New Laboratories to the School

New research groups led by Dr Danielle Ingle, Dr Glen Carter and Dr Fern Koay (DMI) will tackle some of the world's most pressing health challenges, from antimicrobial resistance to cancer immunotherapy.

These research programs strengthen the School's capability across key areas of biomedical research.

 

Carter Laboratory

Understanding antimicrobial resistance, microbiome-mediated colonisation resistance and the development of novel antimicrobials

"My focus is on consolidating our work on last-resort AMR and colonisation resistance. We have generated some very promising data and hope to translate these findings into strategies that can support medical professionals tackling infections caused by multidrug-resistant pathogens." Koay Laboratory

Unconventional T-Cells and whether their unique biology can be harnessed for new immunotherapies

“We are interested in how these cells develop, how they work in tissues, and how they contribute to immunity, inflammation and cancer. Many of our projects sit at the interface of fundamental immunology and translational science and are shaped through collaborations that bring different expertise to the same question”  (Dr Hui-Fern Koay)
