The Art of Biomedicine Competition: India 2026

The art competition: Art of Biomedicine, sponsored by the School of Biomedical Sciences, and now in its third year has received 370+ submissions from students at 63 high schools across India. Here are the winners!

This year's theme The Inner Universe - The Hidden World of Biomedicine invited participants to use art to explore and express the hidden wonders of the human body and through drawing, painting, digital design, or any creative medium, show how science and imagination can come together.

The realm of biomedicine is filled with wonders invisible to the naked eye. From the intricate dance between cells to the complex structures of proteins, the microscopic world holds the key to understanding health and disease.

Art and Biomedicine have always been allies, with their ability to evoke emotion and provoke thought. Art can also serve as a powerful catalyst in biomedicine, fostering new perspectives and solutions.

Whether it's the elegant twist of DNA, the busy world inside a single cell, the chemistry of biological systems or complex networks of the nervous system, so much of what keeps us alive happens out of sight. Through drawing, painting, digital design, and other creative medium, students had the opportunity to turn the unseen into the unforgettable and show how science and imagination can come together.

Professor Gary Anderson (DBP), member of the judging panel, said they were delighted again by the response to the competition.

The artworks were of a very high standard, highly creative and reflected a deep interest in the unseen aspects of biomedicine, the human body and the world around us.
