Welcoming Professor Riccardo Dolcetti

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Riccardo Dolcetti as Head of Clinical and Translational Immunotherapy, a joint appointment of Peter Mac, The University of Melbourne and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre.  He will take up the role on 23 November.

Professor Dolcetti is currently Research Chair of Cancer Medicine at The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute. He was previously Director of the Cancer Bio-Immunotherapy Division at the CRO-National Cancer Institute of Aviano, Italy and was President of the Italian Society for Cancer Research in 2012-13.

As Head, Professor Dolcetti’s primary focus will be on facilitating the rapid translation and clinical application of new discoveries for the benefit of cancer patients, while also working closely with Director of the Centre for Cancer Immunotherapy Professor Joe Trapani to develop additional laboratory-based research programs. Under the Director, he will also lead a laboratory-based research program within the Centre.

We are confident Professor Dolcetti’s appointment will ensure VCCC Centre for Immunotherapy research is even more closely aligned with Peter Mac’s extensive Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Program, the University of Melbourne Centre for Cancer Research and School of Biomedical Sciences - and with other laboratory-based cancer immunology research activities across the VCCC alliance.

We look forward to welcoming Professor Dolcetti later next month.
