Welcoming Our First Years
Here are the highlights from the 2026 BSS O-Week Camp!
Each year, the Biomedicine Students’ Society (BSS) O-Week Camp sets the tone for our incoming undergrads' university experience. Designed to be fun and meaningful, the camp plays a key role in supporting first year students as they form new connections and begin their biomedicine journey together.

At this year's camp, students were placed into teams and completed a series of activities designed to 'break the ice', build friendships, teamwork and resilience. Challenges included the Dizzy Relay Race, Wig Snatch, Human Knot, Capture the Flag and Slip n Slide!

The Orange Team (below) claimed the victory, with consistently strong performances across all activities!

The final team rankings were:

- Red
- Green
- Purple
- Cyan
- Black
- White
- Yellow
- Pink
- Navy

The camp also celebrated individuals who made the experience extra special through leadership, positive attitude and personality. This year’s award recipients were:
- Camp King: Kylan Thompson
- Camp Queen: Summer Hutchinson
- Camp Dad: Rupert Sternson
- Camp Mum: Sophie Lofell
- Best Dancer: Jake Yim
- Best Dressed: Ishaan Pattel
- Biggest Liability: Shuying Jiang
- Most Improved: Ryan Ong
- Dynamic Duo: Mikayla Glassford & Thomas James

The 2026 BSS O-Week Camp was a huge success, thank you to all who were involved!!
