Outstanding achievement celebrated at the School of Biomedical Sciences Student Academic Awards

On Tuesday 6 May, at University House, Professor’s Walk, we celebrated the outstanding achievements and hard work of our students who received awards from the 2024 Academic Year. Joining them were family, friends, and the academic faculty who contributed to these exceptional student outcomes.

Director of Education, Heads of Departments and key faculty congratulated our 2024 cohort of award winners.

I’m extremely proud to celebrate each individual success here tonight.

"It’s a significant honour and achievement to be an awardee, and a testament to your hard work and dedication to the discipline of biomedical sciences,” said Director of Education, School of Biomedical Sciences, Prof Robyn Slattery. “Enjoy the sense of achievement.”

2024 Student Awardees

Prof Andrew Brooks, Head, Department of Microbiology and Immunology said “It’s a privilege to be here -to witness your hard work, the remarkable effort to get here.”

The School deeply values its contribution to advancing human health, both globally and locally. Our accomplished award-winning academics and researchers along with our talented student body are instrumental to our vision.

“Congratulations. Be proud of your accomplishments,” said Prof Stuart Mazzone, Acting Head, Department of Anatomy and Physiology.

As you think about your career, stay curious and inquisitive.

These students, through their hard work and determination, are the best of the best, they have all displayed a deep understanding of the subject matter, thinking profoundly and connecting with our biomedical sciences.

“It’s an extraordinary time to be in biomedicine and you can make a real difference,” said Prof Stuart Ralph, Head, Department Biochemistry and Pharmacology.

Nothing is out of reach.

“As you continue your journey, you will join the ranks of world-class researchers and scholars as well as being one of our esteemed alumni.” Prof Robyn Slattery.

Held annually, the awards ceremony featured twenty-two awards across the School of Biomedical Sciences -Department of Anatomy and Physiology, Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology, and Department Microbiology and Immunology. After the award ceremony, awardees and their family members enjoyed the opportunity to take photos and celebrate over afternoon tea.

Congratulations to our 2024 Award winners
