Preparing for Discovery Early Career Researcher Award or other grants?

Don't know where to start with grant applications?

Find out about the tools and services that can help!

Grant applications often require researchers to demonstrate the impact and engagement of previous research outputs. Academic impact of research can be demonstrated by metrics such as Field-Weighted Citation Impact and Author H-index. These metrics are calculated using publications such as journal articles and conference papers.

Societal impact or engagement is the way in which research has benefited society, for example:

  • improved medical treatments,
  • more effective teaching methods in schools,
  • better understanding and discussion of political ideas

Scholarly Services has a range of tools and services to assist researchers with demonstrating research impact and engagement within grant applications. A good starting point is the Research Impact online guide.
