Dr Debnath Ghosal awarded Cumming Global Centre Foundation Grant
Congratulations to Dr Debnath Ghosal, Senior Lecturer and Laboratory Head, Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology, who received the Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics 2023 Foundation Grant for his project titled ‘A comprehensive structural (-cell) biology platform for rapid characterisation of any pathogen of pandemic potential’.
This project will establish and streamline a comprehensive structural and cell biology workflow at the Bio21 Institute for rapid characterisation and therapeutic intervention of any infection of pandemic potential. The plan will leverage Bio21’s significant expertise in structural biology platform technologies including the ACRF Facility for Innovative Cancer Drug Discovery and Bio21-WEHI Crystallisation Facility.

Launched in August 2022, The Doherty Institute’s Cumming Global Centre was made possible by the exceptional generosity of international businessman and philanthropist, Mr Geoffrey Cumming, who donated $250 million to establish the Centre.
The Cumming Global Centre grant opportunities seek 'blue sky ideas' from researchers around the world to transform the management of future pandemics and save lives.
