Congratulations to our new professors and excellent scholars

Two of our experts in the School of Biomedical Sciences have achieved the promotion of full professor and the title of Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor, respectively.

Effective as of January 1st 2024, Prof Kaylene Simpson, Dept of Biochemistry and Pharmacology, has successfully achieved promotion to the position of full professor. Prof Mark Hargreaves, Dept of Anatomy & Physiology, has been awarded the title of Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor.

Prof Kaylene Simpson heads the Victorian Centre for Functional Genomics (VCFG) at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Center and a quantitative platform using reverse Phase Protein Array technology. Prof Simpson is a molecular cell biologist specialising in breast cancer invasion and metastasis, with a wealth of experience in assay development, data interpretation and analysis and overall guidance in the area of functional genomics. She is also a founding member and past President of the Society of Biomolecular Imaging and Informatics and is currently Senior Editor for Scientific DATA. She has worked on over 170 scholarly works and 14 projects.

Prof Mark Hargreaves is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Enterprise at the university, with the responsibility for research strategy and facilitating opportunities in consultation with Deans. He has worked on 14 projects and over 230 scholarly works.
