There are many paths you can take and career exploration is just the beginning!
The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and School of Biomedical Sciences together with the Biomed Student Society (BSS) are hosting a 'Careers Exploration Series' on subjects and topics relevant to 1st year biomed students. Held across three sessions, these panel conversations will feature experts across various areas.

Its never too early to start career planning whilst you study. Be open to opportunities and ready for your next move... These events will explore and highlight just some of the diverse career opportunities available with a Bachelor of Biomedicine. They offer an opportunity to connect with your peers IRL, and inspiration for what might be possible when you finish study.Studies show the earlier career thinking occurs the higher likelihood of success and satisfaction in the long term!

 | Dr Camille Paynter Dr Camille Paynter is a speech pathologist, academic, and postdoctoral researcher in the School of Health Sciences. She has 20+ years experience in clinical and academic settings working with people with acute and progressive neurological conditions, young-onset dementia and palliative care. She was awarded a competitive NHMRC postgraduate scholarship to complete her PhD. |
 | Professor Bang Bui Professor Bang Bui is a clinician scientist at the University of Melbourne. He is currently Director of Research at the Melbourne School of Health Sciences and Deputy head of Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences at the University of Melbourne. His research group uses a range of pre-clinical models and well as clinical approaches to better understand ageing and neurodegenerative diseases and to develop tools for assessing diseases. |
 | Melissa Gibbs Mel Gibbs is a passionate social worker, educator and wellbeing advocate. After a career transition, she obtained her Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2014 and has since worked in various sectors within the child and family and family violence service sectors. Mel has been teaching within the Master of Social Work program at the University of Melbourne for six years. Her research interests include workplace wellbeing and her PhD research focuses on promoting the wellbeing of millennials within workplaces. |
 | Aiden Smart Aiden Smart is the cardiorespiratory physiotherapy and second-year coordinator of the Doctor of Physiotherapy Program and works clinically as an acute physiotherapy specialist. Aiden graduated from the inaugural year of the Doctor of Physiotherapy Program in 2013 and returned to the University in 2018 as a teaching-focused academic, passionate about curriculum design, technology-enhanced learning and preparing students for clinical placements. |
 | Emily Oliver Emily is a critical care nurse and works in the Royal Melbourne Hospital Emergency Department. She also teaches into the Master of Nursing Science Course at the University of Melbourne. |
 | Lauren Story Lauren is an audiologist and teaching specialist in the Master of Clinical Audiology. Her teaching areas include clinical audiology, vestibular audiology and research methods. Her clinical specialty is in vestibular audiology, which is the diagnostic arm of audiology that includes balance assessments. Lauren completed her PhD in the area of family-centred care for those with ongoing balance problems. |
