Breaking news from the Fogg Laboratory
Associate Professor Quentin Fogg - and PhD students Casper Thorpe Lowis and Georga Bruechert - receive top accolades at an international anatomists e-conference.
Associate Professor Quentin Fogg, of the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience has been elected President of Australian and New Zealand Association of Clinical Anatomists (ANZACA). He will head the leading anatomical association in the region for the next two years.
The appointment was announced at ANZACA’s annual conference on Friday 4 December, held online for more than 300 attendees from Australia, New Zealand, America, the United Kingdom and South East Asia.
Casper Thorpe Lowis, PhD student in the Fogg Lab, was also one of three finalists in the online "3 minute thesis" for his presentation "The Hallucal Sesamoids".
In his presentation, Casper described advances he's made in understanding the complex anatomy of the fibrous tissues that support the small bones in the base of the big toe. Damage to these supporting structures leads to bunion formation and this work will inform more precise treatment. Casper was awarded second place for his outstanding work.
Georga Bruechert, also a PhD student in the Fogg Lab, concluded a four-year stint as ANZACA student representative, having been elected as an Honours student.
Georga has led student engagement with the Association, presented her research and previously won the best poster presentation award. Her contributions were recognised by the ANZACA Council.
