Honours

Honours is a fourth-year program which gives you the opportunity to apply your knowledge, skills and intellect on an exciting piece of original stem cell research.

Honours projects with the Centre for Stem Cell Systems provides students with a unique opportunity to integrate multiple disciplines and contribute to cutting edge research. Through their research, students will also gain exposure to the rapidly advancing ideas and technologies used to study stem cells.

If you are interested in completing your Honours Program in the stem cell area, explore the research projects and people completing work on stem cells who are available to supervise Honours students. When you have identified an area you are interested in, contact the Research Group Leader and discuss your options with them. It is advisable to approach a number of potential supervisors.

To be eligible to enter the Bachelor of Biomedicine (Degree with Honours) or the Bachelor of Science (Degree with Honours), applicants must satisfy both:

  • the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences or Faculty of Science entry requirements;
  • and the requirements of the department offering the Honours program.

Please note: demonstrating eligibility does not guarantee a place in the Honours program. All successful applicants will also need to be selected for admission by the department.

The University of Melbourne Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Science has a wealth of information on the Honours Program, including how to apply and entry requirements.
