Meet Morgan

Dr Morgan Rayner is coordinator of the core clinical years (Year 2 and 3) of the Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne. He also works as a general practitioner and for the Victorian Virtual Services at Northern Health.

Completing his Bachelor of Biomedicine and Doctor of Medicine at the University, Morgan went on to train at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Northern Hospital and further training with Harvard Medical School and the University of Glasgow. His work currently focuses on digital health and primary care integration with research interests in inter-professional education, digital healthcare and internationalising curriculums.

I  saw the University of Melbourne as a chance to explore my interests and passions while receiving an education and degree that would allow me to pursue multiple different options after graduation.

Reflecting on his undergraduate studies, he said he made lifelong friends at University.

“I attended a lot of the Biomedicine Students Society events each year – this was a very fun part of my time and having friends doing the same subjects made lectures and tutorials very social."

While he is very content with his current working life, Morgan says he would be interested in in a joint PhD opportunity or international study in medical education in the future.

His advice for current and future students: “Be willing to take on new opportunities and go outside your comfort zone.”
