The Digital Learning Hub at #3DMed

The poster art for the 5th Annual 3D Med Australia Conference in 2019.

The DLH was proud to be involved in the 3D Technologies in Medicine conference, hosting a VR workshop for Surgeons, Physicians, and Academics from across Australia.

The Hub’s own Dr Charles Sevigny was honoured to deliver a keynote presentation on medical visualisation using the Virtual Reality Human Heart developed by the DLH. The DLH’s own Michelle Rank presented her amazing VR knee project, looking at how to better connect textbook anatomy with real-life function. Ben Loveridge, DLH ally and University of Melbourne VR guru also presented the current and future states of VR, rounding out superb representation from the Hub at a can’t-miss medical conference.

The conference, organised by Drs Jasamine Coles-Black, and Jason Chuen from the Austin Hospital, showcases cutting edge medical technology including 3D printed surgical implants, 3D replicas for surgical planning and training, and other amazing ways technology is rapidly modernising medicine. While these technologies are vastly improving patient outcomes, the DLH staff have been advised that they shouldn’t take this as a reason to abandon their healthy lifestyles.
