* Sonia may not be working at The University of Melbourne anymore

Sonia Ghilas completed her Bachelor degree in cellular biology and obtained a Masters degree in Immunology in 2012 from Aix-Marseille Université (France). She was then awarded a “Université President” Excellence Ph.D Fellowship from Aix Marseille Université to conduct her PhD work under the supervision of Dr Marc Dalod and Dr Karine Crozat at the Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (France). During her PhD, she investigated the molecular mechanisms promoting the activation of effector lymphocytes by XCR1 expressing Dendritic Cells upon infections. After completing her PhD, she joined in 2017 the laboratory of Professor William Heath as a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Melbourne. She is now exploring malaria immunity focusing particularly on T cell activation and vaccination.
