Dr Paula Miotto received an Early Career Researcher (ECR) grant in support of her project entitled “liver-secreted exosomes in regulating metabolism and insulin sensitivity”, to study the mechanistic links between fatty liver disease and peripheral insulin resistance.

The ECR grant aims to support early career researchers with high research potential to progress their research careers by funding high quality research projects on a competitive basis.

Dr Miotto has been working in Professor Watt’s lab since September 2018, after having defended her PhD studying the regulation of mitochondrial bioenergetics at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada. She is supported by a prestigious Canadian Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Post-Doctoral fellowship, and has a wealth of experience examining different biological processes within skeletal muscle, liver, and bone tissues.
