Exploring an Egyptian Tomb…In Melbourne

A picture of the Tomb of Nefatari

Brent Davis, Lecturer in Archaeology, and his group of Ancient Egyptian Studies students donned their VR headsets and were transported to Egypt where they explored the Tomb of Nefertari.

The real tomb has been closed off to the public to prevent damage, and the only way to visit it now is in VR (it also saves a bundle on airfare!) Students proficient in hieroglyphics spent hours reading the walls and learning the stories and secrets of this ancient tomb first hand. They even found ancient plasterers' notes scrawled in a remote corner!
