We are interested in combining lung health and pharmacology, specifically cystic fibrosis, asthma, lung infection and lung inflammation. Our innovative research program seeks to identify how respiratory drugs move (pharmacokinetics, PK), work (pharmacodynamics, PD) and interact in the human body, and uses this information to optimise efficacy.
Our inter-linked research themes are:
- Understanding the treatment challenges associated with drug-drug interactions in respiratory disease
- Investigating how the prolonged exposure to bacteria induces tolerance
- Understanding the crosstalk between respiratory drugs and lung infections and inflammation
- Safety of respiratory drugs during pregnancy and breastfeeding
