Please join me in congratulating Professor Andrew Allen on his appointment as Head of the Department of Physiology; academics promoted to Level D and E and welcoming our new Scientific Operations Officer for Anatomy & Neuroscience and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Joe Pereira, commencing mid January 2017.

STAFF MOVEMENTS:

It is my greatest pleasure to announce the appointment of Professor Andrew Allen as Head of the Department of Physiology. Andrew will take on the role from January 1st, 2017 for six months as we progress the recruitment of a new Head. Professor Allen is a researcher and educator of considerable note and I look forward to working with him in 2017.

Professor Gordon Lynch will conclude his term on December 31st, 2016 as Head, Department of Physiology and focus his attention on developing further his important muscle related research.  I would like to thank Gordon for his leadership of the department over the past five years.  Notable achievements during this time have been the growth in physiology teaching while maintaining quality, mentoring and development of early career researchers, and the warm and supportive atmosphere that Gordon has fostered within the department.
