Warm welcome to our new Vice-Chancellor Professor Duncan Maskell

The School of Biomedical Sciences is pleased to welcome Professor Duncan Maskell as the University of Melbourne's newest Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Maskell became the 20th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne on Monday 1 October 2018.

In addition to being a leading academic for infectious diseases from the University of Cambridge, Professor Maskell has also held prominent leadership roles at Cambridge, including Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, Head of the School of Biological Sciences and until recently, Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Maskell's academic and university leadership contributions are complemented by a successful entrepreneurial career. Professor Maskell co-founded four biotech companies including Arrow Therapeutics and Discuva, which sold to biopharmaceutical companies AstraZeneca and Summit Therapeutics respectively.

As we welcome Professor Maskell, we would like to thank Professor Glynn Davis for his contributions to the School and congratulate him on all his achievements during his 13 years as Vice-Chancellor.
