Dr Kevin Watt

Research fellow, Department of Physiology

I lead research projects aimed at understanding how skeletal muscle cells grow and why muscle mass and function is reduced in diseases such as motor neuron disease and type 2 diabetes. We are keen to understand the processes that drive this muscle loss to develop new drugs to treat these conditions. Knowing that my work may impact on the health of individuals through a number of ways continues to inspire me in my research.

Now is a great time to get some work experience in the area that interests you. Remember working hard to pass exams is important, but real-world experience is invaluable!
