Dr Justine Mintern

Head of the Vaccine Biology Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

My laboratory investigates developing new immunotherapies. I am also a Senior Lecturer, giving lectures to undergraduate students studying biochemistry as part of their Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Biomedicine. Teaching the next generation of scientists and making new discoveries that advance our understanding of immunity are what inspires me.

Currently there is a major revolution in the field of immunology where the immune response is becoming a new focus for clinical treatments to cure cancer. This is leading to major advances in the design of new drugs that can exploit immune responses, with the development of these drugs relying on the discoveries that laboratories like mine will make.
