Med Building Documentary: It Started in the Sunderland

For half a century, the Med Building on the corner of Grattan Street and Royal Parade in Parkville has been the home of the Melbourne Medical School and the nucleus for medical education at the University of Melbourne, including, more recently, biomedical education.

In celebration of this 50th anniversary and our alumni community, we have produced a documentary, It Started in the Sunderland, which looks into the rich history of the Med Building and some of the incredible stories that began within its walls.

Presented by MMS alumnus Rob Sitch, the documentary explores the memories, love stories and careers that started in the Med Building. From Parkville to Mount Beauty to Katherine, and all manner of places in between, the film celebrates all those who have studied in the Med Building during its 50-year history.

The documentary forms part of a larger inaugural Reunion Weekend celebration on 23 and 24 November 2018. All alumni of the Melbourne Medical School and School of Biomedical Sciences are invited back to campus for a range of events and reunions.

It Started in the Sunderland will premiere at the Reunion Weekend Block Party on Friday 23 and will screen during the day on Saturday 24 November.
