 | Melia Winata | Melia is Co-Founder and CMO of the social enterprise Du Anyam in Indonesia, where she has been recognised by Forbes Magazine as one of the '30 under 30' Social Entrepreneurs in Asia. Melia will be joining us via Zoom all the way from Indonesia. Read more about Melia here. |
 | Michelle Blythe | Michelle Blythe is a Patent and Trade Marks Attorney, holding the position of Senior Associate at Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick, one of Australia’s top tier Intellectual Property (IP) law firms. Michelle specialises in protecting inventions in the area of medical devices and instrumentation. She has experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, portfolio management and advising clients on IP strategy. Michelle has completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine (Bioengineering Systems), a Master of Engineering (Biomedical Engineering) and a Master of Law (IP) all from the University of Melbourne. |
Shun Wei Ch’ng | Shun Wei Ch'ng is a Business Development Advisor, currently working pro bono for Australian Volunteers International Development. His previous experience includes transformation and go-to-market initiatives at the intersection of sales, marketing and analytics in healthcare technology, consumer goods and multinationals within the Asia Pacific. Shun completed his Bachelor of Biomedicine and Commerce with First Class Honours at the University of Melbourne. |
Our Head of School, Professor Jenny Wilkinson-Berka will also join us to open the event and the conversation will be led by Associate Professor Stuart Ralph from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
 | Professor Jenny Wilkinson-Berka | A world authority on diabetic retinopathy and oxygen-induced retinopathy, Professor Wilkinson-Berka’s pre-clinical research led to a discovery that the blockage of the hormone angiotensin II reduces retinal vascular disease, and this research contributed to the world’s largest clinical trial evaluating angiotensin II inhibition in diabetic retinopathy.  | A/Professor Stuart Ralph | As Head of the Ralph Laboratory, Stuart is interested in parasitic diseases, with a primary focus on the causative agent of severe malaria, Plasmodium falciparum. Stuart recently appeared on an SBS News report to discuss Remdesivir, Australia’s first approved COVID-19 treatment. Read more here. |
