Immunology: the latest discoveries and discussions
Head of School Professor Fabienne Mackay travels to China for the Frontiers of Immunology in Health & Disease conference.
World experts in immunology, including SBS head of school Professor Fabienne Mackay and Professor Axel Kallies from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, have gathered in China for the Cold Spring Harbor Asia conference on Frontiers of Immunology in Health & Disease.
Professor Mackay co-organised the conference in Suzhou from 10 to 14 September with Xuetao Cao of Nankai University, Richard Flavell of Yale University and Tadatsugu Taniguchi of The University of Japan.
Invited speakers from around the world covered major topics including:
- Innate immunity and cytokines;
- Development and maintenance of the immune system;
- Regulation of T/B cell responses;
- Inflammation and associated diseases;
- Interface between immune system and other biological systems;
- Mucosal immunity;
- Cancer immunotherapy: recent progress; and
- Vaccines.
In her keynote address, Professor Mackay delivered A novel cytokine-controlled immune checkpoint in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. She also hosted a banquet for global experts in the field.
Professor Kallies presented his work on the Molecular regulation of adipose tissue resident regulatory T cells.
Inaugurated in 2010, Cold Spring Harbor Asia is dedicated to promoting international scientific exchange in the Asia-Pacific Rim by offering scientific conferences and advanced training courses.
