Dr Naveen Vandkadari wins FAOBMB Young Scientist Fellowship
Dr. Naveen Vandkadari (Dept of Biochemistry and Pharmacology at the Bio21 Institute) has been named a 2025 Fellowship Awardee for his contributions to infectious disease research.
An emerging leader in the field, Naveen Vandkadari investigates how viral and bacterial proteins undermine the immune system, using cutting-edge cryo-EM, protein biochemistry, and computational biology. His current focus includes the mechanisms behind SARS-CoV-2 infection and host-pathogen interactions.
The Award is a tremendous honour...it will allow me to connect with fellow young scientists, forge future collaborations, and gain invaluable insights from Nobel laureates. It also provides a unique platform to present my impactful research on SARS-CoV-2 and contribute to global scientific progress.
As part of the Fellowship, Naveen will present his research at the 31st Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB) Conference in Busan, South Korea in May 2025, sharing insights on spike protein activation, host factors that aid viral entry, and potential new therapies.
Congratulations, Naveen!
