Dr Pin Shie Quah

Research Officer, Department of Microbiology and Immunology

I work in Professor Fabienne Mackay’s laboratory, which focuses on autoimmune diseases and mechanisms leading to loss of immune tolerance. Biomedical research is advancing at the fastest pace ever in history. Thanks to the internet, it is easy to access online scientific journals and collaborate with scientists from overseas.

I would tell my younger self that passion doesn't have to come naturally, it can be developed. The secret to success is to know what suits you, self-care and perseverance. In the field of immunology, we are harnessing the ability for our bodies to self-heal through diet, exercises, and reducing stress.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be Albert Einstein, so I can thank him for making scientists look so cool.
