I run a microscopy platform that helps researchers use expensive microscopes to perform their research – in fact, 21 microscopes worth over $12 million. We train the researchers on how to prepare their samples, produce the data and quantitatively analyse the images.

Two things stand out: 1. The beauty and complexity of nature. As we generate images we see this every day on our systems. 2. The breadth of research that is performed at the university.

We help researchers working on anything from small model organisms (e.g. flies, fish and mice), plants, coral, tissues, cells, bacteria, parasites, viruses, all the way down to locating individual proteins.
