Dr Jaime Foong

NHMRC Research Fellow, Department of Physiology

I lead a team on a project examining the role of micro-organisms on the development of the nervous system within the gastrointestinal tract. My work inspires me to brainstorm ideas that can tackle novel and complex questions in science. Moving forward, my field involves tying in how changes in the gastrointestinal tract can influence other body systems.

I would advise my younger self to ‘take more risks and push yourself outside of your comfort zone’. And, I firmly believe the current era of biomedicine involves collaborations between several scientists of different disciplines.
