Dr Claire Gordon

NHMRC Early Career Fellow, Department of Microbiology and Immunology

I am a scientist and a doctor specialising in infectious diseases. During my training, I became fascinated in how our immune system fights off infection.

Our immune system is also important for fighting cancer but can have negative effects like causing autoimmune disease. My research focuses on understanding how our immune system works so that we design better vaccines and treatments for infections, cancer and autoimmune diseases.

If I could have dinner with anyone from history, I would want to meet Michelle Obama because she is a fantastic role model for women and has worked to improve poverty, education and nutrition.
