11 researchers from across the School of Biomedical Sciences have been recognised as among the world’s most influential and impactful.
The Clarivate™ Highly Cited Researchers™ list, produced by the Web of Science Group, identifies researchers who have made the most significant contributions to global research in the past decade and includes those who are ranked in the top 1% of research paper citations.
The key stats
- Over 6,000 researchers from more than 60 countries and regions have been recognized this year
- 305 are Australian Highly Cited Researchers, equating to 4.8% of the total list
- Australia is the 5th highest contributing nation
- 36 Highly Cited Researchers named from the University of Melbourne
Australian research institutes continue to punch above their weight. In a country of just 25 million, the number of researchers recognized in 2020 is 305. Australian research institutions appear to have recruited a significant number of Highly Cited Researchers in recent years while also increasing their number of homegrown talent
