Dr Michelle Christie

Research Fellow, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

I am a Research Fellow in the Structural Biology and Computational Design Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. I am part of a team that studies the structure (shape) of proteins to better understand their function.

Working in science is both exciting and challenging at the same time. Through my research I am also able to contribute to our understanding of how bacteria cause disease. This in turn lays the path for developing therapeutics to stop the spread of disease.

The challenges I encounter through my work have also helped me to build resilience and be more patient. I would advise my younger self to not be afraid to try and fail. Enjoy the moment, even as you pursue future goals.
