A/Prof James Ziogas appointed as Biomedicine Program Director

Leading biomedical researcher in the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology appointed as the new Program Director of the Bachelor of Biomedicine.

Associate Professor James Ziogas brings a wealth of expertise in teaching, learning and research to his new role - and a deep interest in supporting  our Biomedicine students in pursuit of their ambitions.

As Program Director of the Bachelor of Biomedicine, James will train the next generation of leaders in the biomedical sciences and health professions. His work will focus on both students’ learning and understanding in our highly sought-after undergraduate degree: The Bachelor of Biomedicine.

"We need to prepare our students who are studying Biomedicine in today's world -  for the challenges of the emerging contemporary health issues- and getting back to face to face learning, teaching and increasing the practical experience." says James.

To start with James will meet with student representatives to hear their views and continue with the restructure already underway which is addressing the need for greater flexibility in student pathways. He will also work with other schools and faculties to identify future elective and breadth opportunities.

James has led a number of education initiatives in the School of Biomedical Sciences and within the discipline of Pharmacology. He is currently based in the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology where he has held the positions of Deputy Head as well as Head of the Department of Pharmacology.
