Poster competition winners announced at MD student showcase

From endoscopic videos to bioprinting - students from the Depts of Anatomy and Neuroscience (SBS) and Surgery (MMS) come together to highlight applied surgical anatomy.

An impressive 78 surgery students tuned in to the inaugural Surgical Students’ Society of Melbourne's virtual event, ‘Innovation in Surgery’ held on Monday 23 October. A collaboration with the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience in the School of Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Surgery in the Melbourne Medical School.

The event’s poster competition attracted 44 submissions involving over 100 medical students across all four levels of the MD program. Twelve finalists were selected and each presented a three minute video presentation of their poster to attendees.

Poster research focused on current surgical procedures and aimed to deepen students understanding of applied surgical anatomy in relation to their chosen topic.
