Associate Dean of Graduate Research announced

Congratulations to Professor Erica Fletcher on her recent appointment to this important role.

Erica is dedicated to enhancing the experience of graduate research students across the Faculty – she wants to create a more student-centric approach to research training, that places high value on student wellbeing, enhanced training and better supervision.

With an esteemed career in ophthalmological research, multiple national and international awards and her involvement in both the Executive and Research Committees in the School of Biomedical Sciences, Erica brings much to her newly appointed role.

Currently leading a team of 14 students and postdocs as Head of the Fletcher laboratory: Visual Neuroscience in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology she has successfully supervised 17 PhD students through to completion.

As Associate Dean (Graduate Research), Erica will Chair the Faculty Graduate Research Committee and take on the task of prioritising and implementing the many recommendations within the Graduate Research Program review.

Professor Erica Fletcher

Erica’s research interests are focused on understanding pathophysiology and enhancing treatment for age-related macula degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.  She is a a clinically trained optometrist, senior teaching and research academic and Chair of Research Training in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology.

Until recently, she was also the Chair of the Research Committee, member of the executive for the School of Biomedical Sciences, and an active member of the Faculty Research Committee.
