Congratulations: Hayley Newton and Karena Waller, recipients of prestigious awards from the Australian Society for Microbiology

Our congratulations to Dr Hayley Newton and Dr Karena Waller, recipients of prestigious awards from the Australian Society for Microbiology (ASM). Both awards were conferred in early July at the ASM Annual Scientific Meeting, that was held in Hobart, TAS.

Hayley was the recipient of the ASM Frank Fenner Award in recognition of her distinguished contribution to microbiology research.

Karena was the recipient of the ASM David White Excellence in Teaching Award, which recognised her excellence in teaching and innovation in microbiology education. Karena was also elected to the position of Chair of the ASM Education Special Interest Group (Ed SIG) at the July meeting.
