OVERVIEW OF PHD PROJECT

My background is in molecular biology, but I am making the transition to computational biology. I am very eager to learn to decode and apply biological data. I want to study the factors that guide a cell's decision to respond to serotonin, a neurotransmitter which is crucial in mental health and wellbeing.

Cells that receive and acts on the signal transmitted by serotonin do so by expressing receptors specialised for serotonin. I want to investigate the molecular characteristics that are associated with the cell's choice to express these receptors.
