Muscle Function

Our highly experienced team has over 30 years of experience in assessing the functional properties of skeletal muscle.

The most important clinical outcome of any muscle-focused therapeutic treatment is to improve muscle function.

Our highly experienced team has over 30 years of experience in assessing the functional properties of skeletal muscle.

These assessments include measurement of whole-body strength, balance and gait as well as expertise in accurately assessing the functional properties of isolated muscle and single fibres.

Using our in vitro, in situ, and in vivo methods we assess maximum force from the frequency-force relationship, power output from isovelocity shortenings, and fatigue from intermittent stimulation protocols that provide an evaluation of muscle function at different workloads.

Researchers are encouraged to contact the team if seeking assistance in assessing muscle function in their mouse/rat model of disease or following a treatment.
